Hit Draw Tap at Montana’s Brier – Kelowna 2025
Thanks to the support of Curling Canada, we’re thrilled to be bringing Hit Draw Tap to the Montana’s Brier in Kelowna on March 1, 2025!
Hit Draw Tap (HDT) is a youth skills competition where kids aged 6-12 compete as individuals. HDT will group kids into three different age categories (6-7, 8-9 & 10-12), and perform three different shots – a “hit,” a “draw” and a “tap.” The difficulties of the skills are modified based on the age.
18 athletes aged 6-12 will be invited to attend the Hit Draw Tap which caters to different zones and fosters skill development, fun and inspiration. Eligible and qualified curlers can attend both Hit Draw Tap and Rockfest. All participants will receive a complimentary ticket to the evening Draw to attend with their parents or guardians during the Brier on March 1.
Curling clubs across BC are encouraged to host an HDT competition as part of their Junior Program whenever it best suits them. We anticipate that each club will need an hour and a half to two hours to complete their competition. Competition results must be entered into the Curling Canada database by Friday, January 27 12:00pm PST.
All participants will be compared to those in their age groups on a “Provincial Leaderboard” that can be accessed by the public on hitdrawtap.ca. The top 5 participants from each of the 8-9 and 10-12 age categories will be invited to compete in the Hit Draw Tap Provincial Championships at Prospera Place in Kelowna on March 1.
How can I qualify for Hit Draw Tap 2025?
Ages 8-9, 10-12: Qualifiers will be hosted by individual clubs before January 27, 2025. Athletes can only attend ONE qualifier.
Ages 6-7: Curlers will be recruited from local curling centers in the Kelowna area.
Any remaining spots after the qualifier events are finished will be given to the host area (Kelowna) to fill.
Please note that curlers and their guardians are responsible for the costs of attending the event in Kelowna.
