Women in Curling BC Summit 2024 – Recap
The 2024 Women in Curling Summit was successfully held at Port Moody Curling Club on September 21.
“The theme this year was Team Building. This year, 15 different curling clubs and 2 countries were represented. 58 participants and 18 coaches and speakers were part of this meaningful event. There were two streams this year: on-ice (Curler) and off-ice (Business, Building & Brainstorming). We are also delighted to have wheelchair curlers participating this year. It was a jam packed schedule with talks, on-ice sessions, great food and socializing at the end of the day.” – Tracey Crawford-Smith, Event Chair, BC Women in Curling.
“Our event showcased the power of belonging to a sport community. Various stakeholders of our sport from curlers, board members, volunteers, and employees, came together to learn more about the power of teamwork on and off the ice. This space allowed for open dialogue and shared experiences to better understand our individual roles, and how we can shape the future of women in curling. The building, business, and brainstorm “BBB” sessions started with a reflection of our values and how they align with our roles in our organizations and on our teams. We identified the influences that ignite, engage, and empower us towards our future vision of curling in our communities. The second session focused on embracing change, and learning about strategies to move an organization and its stakeholders in an organized manner from current stated to desired future state. Our leaders left this session with strategies and tools to take their ideas from concept to implementation. The addition of the “BBB” sessions will be continued to continue building a network of women in curling.” – Kim Dennis, Speaker and Member Services Manager.
We are excited to announce that the 2025 Women in Curling event will be held in Kamloops, BC! Stay tuned for more details and see you next year!
