Tunnel Town Curling Club Raises $26,010 for Breast Cancer Research

The Tunnel Town Curling Club Ladies Bonspiel Committee is celebrating the tremendous community support for their recent “Curl for the Girls” – Life is a Cabaret Fundraising Bonspiel.

Thanks to the generosity and energy of curlers, volunteers, and sponsors, the event exceeded its fundraising goal, raising $26,010.41—a milestone achievement that will directly support the Canadian Cancer Society. Funds will help fund life-saving breast cancer research and essential patient support programs in British Columbia.

Participants also contributed through the online Canadian Cancer fundraising platform, raising $13,500.41 from friends, family, and co-workers. But it was the camaraderie, dedication, and enthusiasm on the ice over the weekend that truly made the event memorable. The bonspiel is highly sought-after, selling out months in advance with only 24 coveted spots.

As Sandra Boisvert, General Manager of the club for 16 years, notes:

“Our volunteers are the backbone of Tunnel Town. From decorators, t-shirt and raffle sellers, swag bag assemblers, to those handling setup and cleanup, their tireless hours ensured a smooth and memorable weekend.”

She added:

“Contributions from our sponsors and prize donors laid the foundation for this event, enabling it to maximize every dollar raised for the cause and provide participants with an exceptional experience. I am honoured to be part of this curling community. The collective dedication shows that when we ‘sweep together,’ we can truly make a difference.”
