Princeton Curling Club Celebrates 92-Year-Old Club Legend John Haigh
The Princeton Curling Club is fortunate to have a true gem in its midst: 92-year-old John Haigh. Born in Princeton in 1933, John spent many years working across BC’s interior before returning home to his roots.
John began curling in 1999 and quickly became a reliable and valued member of the club, which has fewer than 50 members. His dedication goes far beyond the ice. He volunteers countless hours, often stopping by even when the rink is empty to check the compressors and ensure the mechanical systems are running smoothly.
On the ice, John curls in the Tuesday and Thursday day leagues, as well as Wednesday nights, and he can often be found pebbling the ice and competing in bonspiels on weekends. Off the ice, his thoughtfulness shines—he ensures the bartender gets home safely after closing.
John’s sharp mind, active lifestyle, and generosity make him an inspiration to his family and to his curling community. The Princeton Curling Club is proud to call him one of its own.
