Celebrating Milestones, Honouring Legends, and Closing the Season Strong – CEO Message
Hard to believe we’ve reached the last month of the season for most of our clubs. There have been some definite ups and downs this past month.
On the brighter side are a few heartwarming stories in this issue including the 100-year-celebration of Creston Curling Club, the wonderful story of 92-year-old John Haigh‘s volunteer contributions at Princeton Curling Club and the establishment of the Remembering Al Moore Memorial Fund. Also, the amazing accomplishment of BC natives Tyler Tardi (Langley) and Rachelle (Pidherny) Brown (Smithers) winning Gold and Bronze medals respectively with their teams at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy.
On a much sadder note, long-time Victoria official, Kathleen MacKenzie, has died. Kathy was a wonderful contributor to Victoria Curling Club, the Vancouver Island Officiating Community, Curl BC’s Board and the 2010 Canadian Women’s Tour to Scotland. She will be greatly missed throughout BC’s curling community. Our condolences to all of Kathy’s family and friends.

- All the best to Team Tanaka at the 2026 Brier in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Hopefully the weather calms down!
- Good luck to Ina Forrest and Team Canada for the Winter Paralympic Games in Cortina. The competition begins on March 7th.
- Good curling to all the competitors at the 2026 AMJ Van Lines BC Mixed Curling Championship starts March 11th. Many thanks to Kimberley Curling Club for playing host to this year’s event.
- Nomination deadlines are coming up for the BC Curling Hall of Fame, Curl BC Annual Awards and Richards Junior Curling Scholarship. We encourage you to nominate deserving individuals for all of these awards.
- The final draw for this season’s Curl BC 50/50 is 12:00 noon, March 15th. Please support your favorite club (they receive 40%) and help us pass the $50,000 mark for the first time.
We hope all of Curl BC’s member facilities have a wonderful wrap up to their seasons in March and April.
