Melissa Soligo

Melissa Soligo has distinguished herself as both an elite competitor and one of British Columbia’s most influential high-performance coaches. Her remarkable contributions to curling span more than three decades and have left a lasting impact on athletes in BC, across Canada, and internationally.

Representing British Columbia, Soligo competed in four Scottie Tournament of Hearts, highlighted by winning the 1991 Canadian Women’s Curling Championship. She went on to earn the silver medal at the 1991 World Women’s Curling Championship before capturing a bronze medal at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, where curling was featured as a demonstration sport.

Following her competitive career, Soligo transitioned into coaching and quickly established herself as one of the sport’s most respected leaders. Beginning in 2002, she coached South Korea’s national curling program.

Back in Canada, Soligo has made significant contributions to the development of wheelchair curling, serving as National Team Leader for Curling Canada’s wheelchair program and as coach of BC’s wheelchair curling team. She has also played a key role in developing athletes and coaches throughout the province as Curl BC’s High Performance Director and mentor coach.

In addition to her coaching achievements, Soligo has shared her expertise as a commentator for World Curling and Curl BC championship broadcasts, further promoting and growing the sport. Her exceptional accomplishments as an athlete, coach, mentor, and leader have made her one of British Columbia’s most influential figures in curling.
