Field is complete for Cranbrook 2020
The final teams have qualified for the BC Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in Cranbrook.
The final open women’s playdown was held at Enderby Curling Club this weekend (Jan. 4-5) with Team Daniels from Delta Thistle and Team Gushulak from Royal City, Kelowna and Vancouver curling clubs taking the final two berths to complete the roster of eight teams.
Meanwhile, Team Wood from Vernon and Penticton curling clubs took the final men’s berth to complete the roster of 16 men’s teams.
The men’s and women’s teams have all booked their tickets to the combined men’s and women’s championships taking place at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook from Jan. 28 to Feb. 2, 2020.
The six other women’s teams to have already qualified for the 2020 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, presented by Best Western, were defending champions Team Wark, CTRS points winners Team Brown and BC Curling Tour winners Team Thompson and Team Richards. Team Pewarchuk from Victoria and Team Slattery from Vernon/Kelowna qualified at the first open playdown in Abbotsford in December.
The teams that have already qualified for the 2020 BC Men’s Curling Championship, presented by Nufloors, include defending champions Team Cotter, CTRS points winners Team Tardi and BC Curling Tour winners Team Wenzek and Team Geall. Regional playdowns from Dec. 13-15 saw 11 teams qualifying, Team Dangerfield (Victoria), Team Montgomery (Victoria), Team Jackson (Victoria), Team Medford (Cranbrook), Team Salviulo (Castlegar), Team Richard (Kelowna), Team Longworth (Vernon), Team Olsen (Kamloops), Team Joanisse (Golden Ears Winter Club/Royal City), Team Dennis (Royal City/Salmon Arm), Team Thompson (Vancouver).
