Dawson Creek Curling Club names new GM

June 07, 2024

The Dawson Creek Curling Club (DCCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Krista Smith as our new General Manager. Since 2016, Krista has been a familiar face at our club, most recently as beverage manager. She brings a wealth of professional experience in project planning, budget management, and scheduling to her new role as GM.

Krista’s background includes managing large-scale projects with multi-million-dollar annual budgets, showcasing her ability to oversee complex operations and ensure financial stability. Her detail to planning and financial oversight make her an excellent match to the strategic goals of our club.

Krista is deeply committed to our club’s community and is eager to build on the strong foundation laid by her predecessor. Her initial focus will be centred on our strategic plan, which includes increasing membership, enhancing junior participation, and maximizing community impact and facility use. Over the coming months, Krista will lead several key initiatives, including new marketing strategies, optimized stakeholder relationships, and access to grant funding. Krista’s approach emphasizes teamwork, ensuring all participants feel valued & included.

“I am honored to step into this role and excited to bring my project management skills to support our club,” said Smith. “I believe in the power of community and am committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels at home. Our strategic plan will be at the forefront of my efforts, focusing on growth, inclusivity, and sustainability.”

Retiring GM Jeff Ginter believes Krista is a great fit. “She simply succeeds at everything she does; she’s dedicated, thorough and understands the importance of relationship building. She greatly values the reputation of our club and our facility in the Peace Region and is committed to its success. I’m thrilled for her and for the future of the Dawson Creek Curling Club.”

The DCCC is blessed with strength in its volunteers, facility, playing conditions and community support. With Krista’s management added to the collective efforts of our curling community, we are confident in a bright future for the Dawson Creek Curling Club.
