Bethany Evans Awarded 2024/25 Gordon Hooey Memorial Scholarship

April 24, 2025

Congratulations to Bethany Evans, winner of the 2024/25 Gordon Hooey Memorial Scholarship!

“I am very thrilled, grateful, and excited to be the recipient of the 2025 Gordon Hooey Memorial Scholarship! I would like to thank the Victoria Foundation, the Curl BC Awards Committee, and the Kamloops Curling Club community. Also, I would like to thank my hard working coaches for making me a better person and curler, my family for their amazing support, and everyone else who has supported me throughout my curling career so far. Without you, none of my accomplishments would be possible! Next year as I move forward to the University of Alberta pursuing a degree in Environmental Earth Sciences, I cannot wait to continue working hard on and off the ice to become the best curler I can be! I am looking forward to continuing curling at the U20 level and beginning in the USPORTS level as well. I can’t wait to see where curling takes me in the future!” – Bethany Evans

The Gordon Hooey Scholarship fund is administered through the Victoria Foundation in perpetuity. Ideally, it will go to juniors interested in becoming coaches, but it could also support the post-secondary education of juniors who have demonstrated a commitment to becoming top-level curlers and who show leadership skills in their communities.
