50/50, Mega 50/50 and Early Bird Tickets! – CEO Message
In the September Curling Connection, we mentioned several 50/50 initiatives planned for the season. I’m pleased to say the Curl BC Monthly 50/50 is off to a great start and you can purchase your tickets at the following link: rafflebox.ca/raffle/curl-bc. 40% of the amount you purchase will go to the curling club or association you designate. The first draw will be held just after 12:00 noon, October 15 at the Curl BC office.
Also beginning today is the 2025 Montana’s Brier 50/50 Mega Draw, rafflebox.ca/raffle/curl-bc-brier-mar9. The pot for this draw, which will be held on the final day of the Kelowna Brier, promises to be the largest ever for a single day of curling in B.C. We hope you will help us to promote it throughout the province. Funds raised by this raffle will support curling in Kelowna and the surrounding area and in communities across B.C.
Also with regard to Gaming, please note that those clubs applying for Community Gaming Grants or Capital Project Grants will need to have a BCeID in order to continue applying online. The Business BCeID is preferred, but the Basic BCeID will be accepted initially as an alternative. The strong recommendation is that all applicants secure a Business BCeID before February 1, 2025, at the following site: bceid.ca/. If you need some help with this, Jack Bowman, jackbow@telus.net, is available to assist.
For those of you planning to attend the 2025 BC Men’s & Women’s Championships from January 21 to 26 at Langley’s George Preston Arena, early bird tickets go on sale today for $80 on Eventbrite: curlbc2025.eventbrite.ca/. Don’t wait too long because fewer than 500 regular seats are available and the price will go up to $10 per session by the time the event starts. For those of you who would like to do some hosting and have guaranteed seats for the event, there are also tables available ranging in size from 2 to 10 people. Their price is between $750 and $2,000 depending on the size of the table. The Horse & Ryder Pub and The Lodge Steakhouse are located just above the arena and overlooking the host club, Langley Curling Centre, so it promises to be a very enjoyable venue to bring your guests.
Welcome back to Wells Gray Curling Club in Clearwater which brings us back up to 90 member curling facilities. We hope all of you are off to a great start and have a wonderful season of curling.
