2025-26 Fee Structure – CEO Message

January 05, 2025

Curling Canada has announced it will be introducing a “Curling Development Fee”, as a replacement for its $2 “Individual Member Fee” (IMF). In response, Curl BC’s Board recently passed the following motion:

“For the 2025-26 season, to maintain Curl BC’s membership fee at $22 per regular curler aged 13 and over with the understanding that Curling Canada’s new Curling Development fee of $5 will be invoiced separately by Curl BC.

For greater clarity, in order for a Member Facility to maintain the right to vote at the Curl BC AGM and enable their members to enter BC Curling Championships, the club will have to pay both fees. Otherwise, if a club only pays the Curl BC membership fee, then the club will be non-voting and its curlers will be affiliated with Curl BC, but not allowed to enter the BC Championship playdown system. The club will, however, be able to take advantage of the other benefits Curl BC has to offer including Personal Accident Insurance coverage for its members and the Rafflebox 50/50 fundraising program.”

Thus, full fees for regular curlers will be $27 for the 2025-26 season (and likely the 2026-27 season). If you have any questions about Curling Canada’s new Curling Development Fee or helping you to maintain your club’s affiliation with Curl BC, please do not hesitate to contact Gavin Johnson or me at the Curl BC office.

Elsewhere in this issue:

  • Curl BC 50/50 sales have topped $100,000 this season with 10 clubs already raising more than $1,000 for their programming.
  • The BC-based curling documentary Curl Power will launch in cinemas on Jan. 24. Based on their size, (400+, 200-399, <200 regular curlers), the three clubs which generate the most sales will win $1,000. Club sizes will be based on last season’s final numbers.

All the best for 2025 and a great second half of your season.
