Canada Games Selection Process
Qualification Process for the 2011 Team BC (Boys & Girls)
- Top 3 teams each from the 2010 BCWG will qualify for a 4-team playdown to be held November 5-7, 2010 in Vernon
- Gold medal winners of the 2010 BCWG will represent BC at the 2010 Optimist Finals.
- Top 3 teams from the 2010 BCWG will enter a Curl BC training program (from February through to October). This will include a spring training camp and assistance with summer training plans. They will attend an Evaluation Camp in August and receive more assistance with training.
- The fourth team will be determined October 22-24, 2010 through a “back-door” opportunity at the Cloverdale Curling Club.
- Team BC will be selected at the Qualifying Playdown November 5-7, 2010. *
“That the following recommendations are added to the 2011 Canada Winter Games Team BC Selection Policy:
14.10.6 Should a team not agree to be part of the training program, not meet requisite qualifications such as specific coaching requirements, and/or not wish to continue on to the Qualifying Playdown or Canada Winter Games, a replacement team may be named to the Selection Process Group.
14.10.7 Curl BC’s provincial coaches may replace the team using the following guidelines. Any replacement team should be of a developmental level comparable to those already in the program.
a. Prior to September 2010: select the fourth place finisher from the 2010 BC Winter Games.
b. Following the Back Door Competition: select the second place team at the back-door competition if a team withdraws from the program after that event takes place.
c. Following the Qualifying Playdown: select the runner-up team if the first place team is unable or unwilling to attend the Canada Winter Games.

Entry Fee $200 plus HST
If the original team lineup are eligible for the BC Juvenile playdowns in January of 2011 the team will be credited for the amount of $200 on the entry
Format – modified double knockout
Teams who wish to enter must meet the following criteria:
-competitiors shall be a maximum of 17 years of age on December 31, 2010
-Year of birth – any athlete born on and since January 1, 1993
-Coaches named on the official registration form must be fully certified under the National Coaching Certification Program to at least Level 2. (Requiremetns for coaching at the Canada Winter Games is a fully certified Level 3). If the coach of the winning team is not fully certified to this level, a level 3 coach, appointed by Curl BC, will immediately be named to replace the current coach.
