SOAR program hits the road
Curl BC’s Penny Bartel has been travelling up and down the province over the past month helping to train new Capital One Rocks & Rings instructors.
Penny has been working alongside staff from Tennis BC and British Columbia Golf as part of the SOAR (Sharing Our Activities and Resources) initiative.
They are training people who will be qualified to go into schools to teach the FUNdamentals of curling, tennis and golf.
The curling segment of the training gives instructors the skills to teach floor curling in a school gymnasium.
Penny recently spent four days in the Cranbrook area teaching new instructors and is now in Prince George with a new group of keen learners.
The SOAR program recently benefited from $18,000 in funding through the BC Sport Partnership Program.
