Nelson Curling Centre teaches curling to world class snowboarders
A local cat skiing resort near Nelson, B.C. recently hosted a world-class snowboarding championship for invited elite snowboarders from around the world. As part of their meet and greet evening, the sponsor, Red Bull, rented the Nelson Curling Centre for a private party so that the competitors could have the experience of curling.
Instructors provided an introductory lesson where the snowboarders and entourage all proved to be quick and eager learners. These extreme athletes took their competitive spirits into the game and made it a fun evening for everyone. When asked how they felt about the opening event to their extreme sport competition being curling, the response was that they were really “stoked” about it and had been looking forward to actually learning how to play the game as they had enjoyed watching it during the Olympics. It was quite the experience teaching young athletes from around the world who are renowned within their sport. Their snowboarding competition will be aired on NBC on March 31st 10:00 a.m. Pacific time.
