Day 1 complete at BC Scotties

The first two draws are complete at the 2012 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship presented by Best Western at the North Shore Winter Club in North Vancouver.

Allison MacInnes, Marla Mallett, Jen Rusnell and Kelly Scott all had perfect days winning both of their games; while Nicole Backe, Brenda Garvey, Marilou Richter and Kelly Thompson will look to improve upon their 0-2 starts to the week. Both Roselyn Craig and Kelley Law split their games and sit at 1-1.

The talk of day revolved around the finish of the Mallett vs. Law game in Draw 1 when Law lost by giving up a steal of three after running out of time on her last stone. A player’s stone must reach the nearer tee line during their delivery of the shot before their allotted time expires. Law bounced back with an extra-end victory over Richter and will face Kelly Scott in this morning’s Draw 3. Law & Scott have faced each other in the previous two provincial finals with Scott prevailing both times.
