Law & Pierce advance to 2012 BC Curling Championships

Congratulations to the Kelley Law and Brent Pierce teams of the Royal City Curling Club. Both teams have earned berths into the 2012 provincial championships by leading the province in CTRS (Canadian Team Ranking System) points.

Points are calculated between December first of each year based on their performances at CTRS approved tournaments. If points are collected across two different seasons, then three of the players must return to the roster in the second season in order for the team to maintain the points.

The Law rink of Shannon Aleksic, Kirsten Fox, Dawn Suliak, Sherry Fraser and coach Brent Giles will now join Kelowna’s Kelly Scott, Kamloops’ Allison MacInnes and Richmond’s Kelly Thompson, in the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts BC Women’s Curling Championship presented by Best Western. The provincial championship will be hosted by the North Shore Winter Club from January 23-29, 2012.

The Pierce team of Jeff Richard, Kevin Recksiedler and Grant Dezura will join returning champion Jim Cotter, in the 2012 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship presented by DundeeWealth. This championship runs from February 6-12, 2012 at the Parksville Curling Club.

The remaining berths for each championship will be determined through regional and open qualifying events over the next two months.

Event semi-final and final games will be broadcast on Shaw TV & Shaw Direct.
