Cotter clinches first place at BC Men’s Championship
With two draws left in round-robin play at the 2011 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship presented by Kal-Tire in Vernon, Jim Cotter and his Kelowna rink have clinched first place and a spot in the 1 vs. 2 page-playoff game Friday night.
Cotter stole a single point in the final end against Royal City’s Sean Geall to move to a 7-0 record at the end of this afternoon’s draw. This moves the Kelowna squad two games ahead of Kelowna’s Jeff Richard and Victoria’s Neil Dangerfield. Cotter has already defeated both Richard and Dangerfield, which means regardless of his last two games, he will finish first after the round-robin. Richard and Dangerfield both have secured a tie-breaker spot at the least.
Standings:
Cotter 7-0
Richard 5-2
Dangerfield 5-2
Herrick 4-3
Heath 3-4
Pierce 3-4
Yamada 3-4
Buchy 3-4
Clarke 1-6
Geall 1-6
