Law advances to Scotties BC women’s curling final
Kelley Law and teammates Jody Maskiewich, Shannon Aleksic and Kristen Recksiedler are within one game of representing BC at this year’s national Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Prince Edward Island.
Law has been on top of the standings all week at the 2011 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship presented by Best Western at the Cloverdale Curling Club. She finished the round-robin alone in first place with an 8-1 record, earning a spot in the 1 vs. 2 game against defending champion Kelly Scott. Law continued her domination by winning 9-2 in seven ends. The win puts Law into Sunday’s provincial final and drops Scott into the semi-final on Saturday evening at 6pm.
Scott & Law met in last year’s 1 vs. 2 game with Law coming out on top, however it was Scott who came back to win the final game and advance to the national championship.
In other playoff action, Richmond’s Kristy Lewis defeated Royal City’s Adina Tasaka 6-5 in a fourth-place tie-breaker. Lewis now advances to the 3 vs. 4 game on Saturday at 10am against Duncan’s Roselyn Craig. The winner advances to play Scott in Saturday evening’s semi.
The event final & semi-final games will be broadcast on Shaw TV & Shaw Direct on Saturday at 6pm PST and Sunday at 2pm PST. Up-to-date line scores can be found at www.playdowns.com.
