Spots still available for teams to enter the 2011 International Children’s Games

Kelowna is privileged to host the 2011 International Children’s Winter Games from January 26-31. The International Children’s Games will bring together athletes and coaches from cities around the world.

Kelowna will host international youth ages 12-15 for a week full of fun-filled games, sporting events, festivals and more. The event puts emphasis on sporting ideals, respect, and understanding different cultures and ways of thinking. The aim of the Games is not to win, but to create strong bonds of friendship and solidarity between young athletes from all over the world.

The Games in Kelowna will be the first time they have been held outside of Europe, and will showcase curling, speed skating, figure skating, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and for the first time, hockey.

There are still a few spots available in both the boys’ and girls’ competitive curling division, and some room in the novice/beginner division. For more information on how to participate or other general inquires regarding the Games, please call Steve Tarlit, Sport Chair, at 250-469-8827.
