Pilot project extention allows minors in licensed areas of curling clubs

A letter explaining the extension of the pilot project allowing minors in the licensed areas of curling clubs:

Dear recreational facility licensee:

As you know, in February of 2008, a pilot project was introduced permitting minors in the premises of LP and LP club establishments located in a curling facility until 10:00 p.m. with the approval of the general manager. In November of 2008, the pilot was expanded to include golf course facilities, recreation centres, and stadiums. The pilot project is scheduled to end on December 31, 2009.

Government’s evaluation of the pilot program is ongoing. In the interim, the pilot will be extended until April 30, 2010, and the same eligibility criteria and terms and conditions, as outlined in Policy Directive 08-09, will apply, a copy of which is attached for easy reference. Licensees will be informed prior to April 30, 2010, if the pilot is to be made permanent, terminated, or amended.

Liquor primary licensed establishments that have already been approved to permit minors into their licensed establishments during the pilot project are automatically granted permission to allow minors until April 30, 2010. These establishments can continue to display their current licence until the annual renewal has been approved, at which time the licence will be updated to reflect the new expiry date of the term and condition.

If you have any questions about the pilot project or its continuation, please call the branch at 250 387-1254 in Victoria or toll free at 1 866 209-2111 and ask to speak to the senior licensing analyst for your location.

Yours truly,

Karen Ayers
General Manager
